Why does everybody keep saying Luke "overdosed?" Any amount of RAT POISON in the veins is an "overdose." I know I'm not the only one that saw the bottle of rat poison next to Luke in the Red Room.

This show was the PERFECT haunted house story. It blended supernatural ghosts with the emotional ghosts that people carry around after traumatizing events. The production value, score, acting, screenwriting were all superb. I REALLY hope they don't do a 2nd, whether its a continuation or even anthology. This was perfect haunted house story. And good full-on horror tv is REALLY hard to come by.

I must admit I think some people are overreacting when they say this show is too scary to watch. I mean, this wasn't horror, it was more of a thriller drama (if that is a genre :))) Luke and Nell were my fave characters and Luke made me cry at most of his scenes. I was actually really curious about the Hill family. We don't get much to know about them. Who really were they, how was the house built, why is the house haunted? I wish we knew. Hope to get know more on that in season 2 if we get one.

The ending sucked. Would have been better if u found out they were all dead and still living in the house that was foreshadowed when the dad finds himself back in the house looking for the bathroom in the funeral home. I heard there was a rumor that the creator wanted to end them all together celebrating Luke’s 2 years clean with the red room window in the background. Would have been the best ending.

There are a few questions (plot holes?) I can't find the answer to (*spoilers*): 1. What happened with the police investigation after Liv died? Did they drop it? Did Hugh go to prison? If not, then why did the kids go to live with their aunt instead of with his dad? 2. If the kids and Liv were the keys to the red room, then why sometimes the door wasn't opening for them? Like when Theo was dancing inside and the other girls were trying to get in. They also showed Steve getting inside the "three house" when Luke was inside, so is not like "only one can be inside". thoughts? 3. How did Poppy die? (not a plot hole, but I'm curious) 4. How come Luke didn't need glasses when he's older? I doubt that as an addict he is using lenses or that he had surgery. 5. Did Steve just leave the body of his dad inside the house.. forever? Was that the "second body" the police referred to in the interview (which somehow traveled through time)?

I do agree 100% that the cinematography in episode six was absolutely amazing. There were only 5-6 cuts in the entire episode. That's around 12 minutes per shot. But what makes it more impressive is the fact that the cast and crew worked each shot perfectly. Imagine having to retaking a 12 minute continuous shot just because of one mistake in the final minute of the shot. THERE BETTER BE A SEASON TWO

Great show..... up until the ending. such a co op out! Really?! After all these ghosts tormenting and killing the main casts through out the season, all of a sudden everyone's getting along? even posing for a group ghost photo at the end witch cheesy happy music playing in the background? what the fuuu! and the duddley's not even caring about their daughter?! "Hey man, i know your family killed my daughter, but can you like, not burn the house down so we can came see her be imprisoned forever along side all these hideous, malevolent, killer spirits instead of giving her a chance to go to heaven by setting her free? Thanks!" stupid stupid stupid stupid ending, but as long as it has a "happy" ending tone to it, everyone is happy!

The father had a heart attack at the top of the stairs. when the crazy ghost lady started eyeballing him and his wife stepped in to stop her. his oldest son was the only one that looked that direction when leaving the red room. he looked over and when he noticed and he had to readjust the load of carrying his brother as his father was obviously not carrying the other half.

One of my thoughts, each of the family members stands for one of the se7en deadly sins: Pride: Hugh - For the love of his children and wife Greed: Steven - For trying to sell the story for profit Lust: Theo - For trying to find love Envy: Nell - For not having anyone believe her and thinking all are above her Gluttony: Luke - For using over and over and over again Wrath: Olivia - For having uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage and even hatred Sloth: Shirley - For not caring about any others Might be reading too much into it, but it is kind of a neat twist in my mind!

Am I the only one that thought this show was completely ruined by the whole time-traveling ghosts thing? It has no real impact on the narrative, and just seemed like a "Shamylan Twist" kinda deal. It was cheap and raised wayyyy more questions than answers. The whole ending, the last 3 episodes, was just kinda "meh" for me.

What a great summation of the show and finale! What made this show great is it took the time to develop each character (slow burn) so the payoff works because you understand and care about them. Many people will call this horror, but I still say it’s a family drama with some good scares! This show is as good as TV gets in this golden age.

One ghost that was missed and I rewinded it to make sure was a girl peeking around the corner when the dad jumped back from busting the wall open and seeing the skeleton in the wall. Episode 1 when Hugh woke Steve up to flee the house. He tells him to not open his eyes no matter what. Why? I don't think Hugh saw any ghosts that night. He just saw his wife trying to kill the kids. Though, when I first watched that scene and they ran down the hall, I swear the scary "ghost" Steve saw when he opened his eyes, was some crazy, creeping evil being chasing them. Then to later find out it was just his mom hobbling towards them. I rewatched that scene again and it was totally his mom just walking towards them. They did a real good job in making me think I was seeing something evil. See what you want to see

Do the mold was in the red room . Everybody was in the red room except for Hugh.. so is that why they were dying? The red room was the stomach ... was the mold the acid ? The longer they stayed in the room the more insane that went? They were being stripped down as kids and the mother spent the most time in the room soooo that’s why it started with her????

I really was let down by the ending. First, I must say I enjoy an actual ghost story, and the thought that this would be a deeper story with a psychology twist really excited me. The first few episodes had me hooked. Then it just crashed and burned. What is the real story of the house and the ghosts? All the characters are just dealing with their own guilt and are hallucinating? Really? What does this have to do with the house? To me, the attempt at a tie-in with the red room being the heart/stomach of the house was just weak. Great potential, but I feel they got us invested in characters and each of their storylines to just rush through a flimsy and disconnected explanation at the end.

(SPOILER ALERT) I'm curious though, as to why Hill House couldn't change Nellie. See below, maybe you can help me figure it out- but first: Brilliant video! Spoken intelligently, clearly, and rather beautifully too. I knew I saw some anonymous ghosts in the corners of certain shots- I thought I saw the two statues change too, the night of the big storm when Hugh tries to catch up with "Olivia"? I could swear they shift from their usual position to facing Olivia, faces looking sinister. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty smart cookie, and "Hill House" still managed to lose me in certain places- like Mr. Dudley being Hill's bastard, or even who the Bowler-Hat Man was at all. It's wonderful to finally understand all that thanks to you video! Obviously, I love this story- the novel, the incredible "Haunting" film from 1963, and Netflix's "Hill House"- I accidentally binged all of "Hill House" the day the show premiered...probably why I missed the heavy hint that Mr. Dudley's mother was Bowler-Hat Man/Mr. Hill's mistress. It's also just incredible writing. Why didn't Hill House change Ghost-Nellie? I find it fascinating that Hill House changed everyone, even its ghosts (Hugh talking to Normal/Imaginary-Olivia v.s. Hill-House-Ghost-Olivia, most of the ghosts have exaggerated features, possibly symbolizing an inner change? Like the "horror within" your video mentioned). Example: Hugh reminds Hill-House-Ghost Olivia that (before Hill House) she wanted to let the children go into the world, she had told him that their job was "preparing the children to sail off into the world", so either the stress of the haunting = Olivia going mad or the influence of Poppy's ghost changed Olivia, moving her away from her authentic self. But the only change we see in Ghost-Nellie is her physical appearance- she still manages to hold on to her love for her siblings, her parents- enough so to bring them out of the Red Room reveries. She is the only ghost of Hill House who manages to hold onto a relatable sense of human morals. I wonder why?

The show got me really hard when Shirley confessed her night stand to her husband. Few year ago, when I was young, I feel in love with a woman and to leave some good impression, I always lied to her about most of things of me. We started dating and I was living in guilt. One day I opened to her and told every single thing which I lied to her even I knew she would leave me after listen all these stuff. I am so lucky and blessed that she forgave me(after giving some silent treatment for days lol,it felt like break up). She finally came back and now we are happily married. From that day I have never lied to her. And I would never till my last breath. This show is amazing

Creepy show and not bad. Reminded me heavily of ahs murder house. In the end though, this was pointless. Side note: what really was the point of theo’s “powers”? Why did she have them?
